Teachers, do we realise how much they help?

Teachers, mentors, tutors there are many names for them but whatever we call them it doesn't change their significance. They play a role in our lives be it a school teacher who is there for years, or a driving instructor who is there for a few months. There role is vital. From the age of 7 our parents send us to school and these adults are forced to care for us even if they hate us.

So why do we treat them in such a cruel way? Surely if these people dedicate there lives to the likes of us to try and make us better people and help us we should treat them with some kind of dignity. Because, truly we won't realise what we have until its gone. For example you loath having an instructor by your side whilst driving monitoring your every move. However, when they leave and your left to panic in situations where they would normally tell you what to do, you want nothing more than to turn to the empty seat next to you for help.

Therefore, I find it strange that some people fail to show authority figures respect. Possibly its because we don't want to conform to societal expectations. However, we must draw the line somewhere and turn to others and say hi and smile. Just a little thing to show you understand their job isn't easy but they still come in a do it and thanks to them your far more knowledgeable than before. Even if you claim your parents taught you everything, someone must of taught them, and someone taught them and someone taught them - its a vicious cycle. As a result we must praise those rather than write on their dresses when they turn around - yes, I do know someone who did that to a teacher they hated. Yes, a authority figure may seem like an arrogant idiot who knows all and makes you feel like you know nothing. However, just because they act like that it isn't to intimidate you but to make you a better version of yourself.

Yet it's not just school teachers than can help teach you or someone you employ to hep teach you. A teacher can be anyone, according to the online definition a teacher is 'a person who teaches, especially in a school.' However I disagree slightly, I have my own definition for the role of a teacher: 'a person who is there for you when you need them most and help you when you are at your last end'. So look around I'm sure you'll find someone who can teach you.
