Are smart phones replacing smart people?

Smart phones enable people to do virtuality everything nowadays. Long gone are the days of turning to books and asking others around you for help. We now have Mr Google and the online dictionary to tell us what we need to know. Kindle's have replaced paperbacks and texting has replaced letters. We spend more time tweeting and texting than writing and chatting.

So it's no surprise that smart phone users have grown over recent years and are increasing more and more everyday. Who can blame them anyway? With the amount available to a smart phone user it seems ridiculous that a person wouldn't have one. Even people on the underground who have no signal still find something to do on their phones. It's incredible really. Apps enable you to do many things from controlling your telly to communicating to the outside world. With over 1 million apps available on the Andriod market alone it's no surprise many people enjoy smartphones.

However, are smart phones replacing smart people? With people having the ability to look something up on their phone within seconds are we turning into a world of computer savvy people turning to our phones for knowledge as opposed to gaining it through traditional means.

As a result are we growing into a population of techno teens without the ability to turn to a book for help and knowledge? Well every time a young person turns to their parents and asks for a phone they give them a smart phone, then they give their child one and so on so on until we are a country of phone geeks who communicate through messaging rather than words.
