Can chickens fly?
After watching these
marvellous animals for a good 20 minutes or so I discovered something, chickens
seem to jump from surface to surface and flap their wings at the same time. Now
does this mean they are flying or its just a reflex? Now, before you shut down
the web page because you think I've officially lost it I am going somewhere
with this.
Much like humans,
chickens have the appearance of doing one thing but truly they are doing
another. No I don't mean being two faced but something slightly kinder. When
someone hides something from you are they lying or simply trying to disguise
their true feelings out of fear of being hurt? Its a difficult line to draw as
sometime we want to hide things from others so give the appearance of doing one
thing but truly its just a reflex.
Here is an example
for you, for many students this month will allow them to see freshers week a
week where they will move into a new home with new people and live alone
without a parent to rely on. Now of course we are all going to be nervous but
many will act excited with slight apprehension
when inside they will be nervous and terrified. So much like chickens
setting off to fly is it a reflex to lie and pretend you feel excitement and
apprehension or is it just bare faced lying?
Oh, and in case you
were wondering domestic chickens are incapable of flying long distance, but
lighter birds are capable of flying short distances e.g. Over fences or into
trees.
