Bullying? A past time or current issue?

Every teen flick seems to include some form of bullying. 90210, a much loved TV show about a group of Beverly Hills rich kids who simply aim to ruin each others lives - except the series' after they leave school then they face 'real life' problems - and Easy A, another teen movie ok so maybe the content of it isn't very applicable, after all if you go around telling people your a 'tramp' there going to spread it but to quote the film "terminological in-exactitude accelerated with velocity" - basically lies travel fast. Anyway as teenage girls all our media seems to revolve around the idea of bullying and spreading lies so is it a wonder that girls of our modern age want to act like this?

For some school can be like a minefield, your worried about where you walk and what you do as around the corner could be someone waiting to call you names and hit you. They say school is the best years of you life but if your constantly running around avoiding people how can this be good?

We are told from a young age that a bully has a brain the size of a pea. However, this can't be correct as a) science shows we all basically have the same sized brain and b) they are constantly thinking of new ways and ideas to ruin your life. Yet, maybe they do have a brain the size of a pea as they never think about the consequences. That person may but on a brave face at school and shrug off the comments but what the bully doesn't know is that, that person runs home to their bedroom crying because of the pain.

Bullying isn't big and it isn't clever, it can lead to devastating consequences for the child being bullied. We've all seen on the news the tragic cases of people taking their lives as they can't handle being called names anymore. This is no way to live. This has to be stopped. It's all well and good our parents telling us to be brave and that 'sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me'. Yes, they won't hurt you physically, but the emotional pain is far harder to overcome than the bruises.

My friend introduced me to this amazingly inspirational YouTube clip. It's very emotional but very good.
